Thursday, 16 February 2012 14:10

In 2012, the Buddhist Council of NSW is launching an "Eco-friendly Temples Challenge", which includes elements of ARRCC's Eat Less Meat campaign.

BCNSW_logoThe challenge will consist of two parts:

1. Vegetarian Food Challenge

An invitation to all Buddhist communities in Australia to join in by serving only vegetarian food in the community centres. Many Buddhist temples/monasteries are already fully vegetarian so the aim is to encourage the remaining templates to join too.

They are also hoping to include a third part:

3. Eco-friendly Gardens Challenge

In support of the International Decade for Biodiversity Conservation, this challenge is focused on helping Buddhist communities identify noxious weeds in their temple/monastic gardens and remove them, as well as planting more natives.
