In the lead-up to COP22 which runs Nov 7 – 18, Australia is one of the few wealthy countries which have not yet ratified the Paris Accord. We thus go to Marrakech in Morocco with only observer status. This is in keeping with our poor performance on climate policy as assessed by a range of reputable organisations both here and overseas. Importantly, we are seriously out of step with the kinds of policies needed to address the situation we are in, which can now be described as a "climate emergency".
Please write to the Minister for the Environment and Energy, the Hon. Josh Frydenberg, and the Foreign Minister, Hon. Julie Bishop, and let them know you think Australia can and should do better than this.
