Lenten Carbon Fast for 2020

Challenge yourself for the earth!

Try a Carbon Fast this Lent this year in 2020, which starts on Ash Wednesday Feb 26th. The Care for Creation team of the Catholic Parish of St Dennis, Madison, in the US State of Wisconson, has put together this Carbon Fast for 2020.

Of course, the idea fits in well with the global Living the Change campaign. During Lent this year, why not make a commitment to change one or two lifestyle habits towards living in a more climate-conserving way? When you see the options, if you're already in a low-carbon habit, you can check "I'm already doing this".

Stations of the Forest

This booklet (and DVD) follows the format of The Stations of the Cross, lamenting the stages in the death of part of God’s Creation. It incorporates issues related to rainforest destruction: extractive industries, loss of biodiversity and climate change. Download the booklet 'The Stations of the Forests'.

What do you do during Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter? For Christians, Lent is the time to remember the 40 days that Jesus spent in the Wilderness, facing challenge and temptation. It is a time to reflect on God’s purpose for our life.

In recent years, many Christians have adapted this noble tradition to become more mindful of – and reduce - their impacts on Creation.

The Grace of Place

St Columban's Mission Society have hosted the production of this beautiful resource for schools and parish groups, suitable in Christian contexts generally. Each PDF has a socially and spiritually sensitive reflection, and ends with a gentle suggestion for further action.
