There are many roles for people at the People's Blockade that do not involve Civil Disobedience / Nonviolent Direct Action (NvDA), however NvDA is an integral part of Rising Tide's game plan. The practice of nonviolence has its roots in the faith traditions, with early proponents being Gandhi and Martin Luther King. We will explore this history, the faith-based values that underpin NvDA and some of the logistics of how NvDA works at the People's Blockades. Participants will be invited to share their own perspectives in small break-out groups.
