WA Multi-Faith Forum Souvenir Resource Guide
A Multi-Faith Forum on Living with Climate Change was hosted by ARRCC WA in Perth on 26th October 2024. The theme was “Saving our Sacred Earth”. Jo Vallentine, a long-time Quaker advocate for peace and environmental care spoke about her motivation for caring for people and the wellbeing of the planet. This has sustained her through peaceful demonstrations that led to arrests, as well as serving in the Australian Senate. Alison Xamon spoke of how her Christian faith had sustained her in persistent efforts to call for transitioning away from fossil fuels - a message that was not readily supported by others in the West Australian Legislative Council. Nonetheless she continues to promote sustainability in local government contexts. Geoff Bice, a Christian and a Greenpeace Campaign Lead spoke passionately about the threats to the local and global environments by the proposed exploration and gas extraction from the North West Shelf and around pristine Scott Reef in the Indian Ocean.
A Souvenir RESOURCE GUIDE arising from the Forum is available here. This shares some of the insights and resources available among our multi-cultural and multi-faith community. Prepared with a West Australian focus, much of this material has wider relevance too. Please follow up on some of the materials or suggestions contained within it to promote sustainable living on our precious, fragile and sacred planet.
People from a wide range of faith and spiritual traditions gathered for the afternoon and enjoyed lively presentations, devotional reflections and personal interactions. The WA Chapter of ARRCC continues to plan for a variety of further opportunities. Enquiries are welcome by email to [email protected]
