Displacement and relocation challenges of climate change for communities in the Pacific Islands Region

   A three-day event in Brisbane 25–27 May 2018

Forums on 25 & 26 May at Parliament House will include:

  • An up-to-date overview of the impacts of climate change in the region
  • How Pacific Island governments, communities and civil society organisations are responding to the challenges and Australia’s response
  • 26 May Forum (by invitation)—for Pacific Islands community leaders

The forums will be resourced by:

  • Overseas presenters from affected communities in Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Tuvalu
  • Pacific climate change specialist, Prof Patrick Nunn, USC

Youth Event on 26 May at Reddacliff Place in Brisbane City Square

  • Pacific Island cultural performances, play, stalls and dance and music
  • PI Youth showcasing Pacific Islands culture

Ecumenical Church Service on 27 May at

St. John’s Anglican Cathedral in Brisbane City

  • Service officiated by Pacific Islands clergy working with affected communities
