Action outside Whitehaven sentencing
Last October, Whitehaven Coal was found guilty of four criminal offences related to an incompetent mine blast, injuring a worker at a neighbouring mine and putting surrounding residents at risk. This blast was overloaded by 41,404kg of explosives.
Now, Whitehaven Coal is applying to expand their Maules Creek coal mine – the very same mine where the illegal blasting happened.
With a strong showing of community opposition at the sentencing, we can send a clear message to the NSW Government and Whitehaven Coal’s corporate partners that supporting dirty coal companies that serially break the law is risky business.
Help us advocate that governments and companies refuse to do business with Whitehaven Coal. Bring along your signs and banners.
