Kiama Interfaith Prayer Circle - Stop Adani
Kiama Interfaith Prayer Circle - Stop Adani National Day of Action event
At the picturesque Kiama Lighthouse, near the spectacular blowhole, a diverse group of people of faith intend to show their solidarity with those who would suffer if Adani's Carmichael mine goes ahead.
Where: Kiama Lighthouse (1 km walk from Kiama railway station)
When: Saturday, October 7th, 9 - 9.30 am
Contact person: Denis Quinn, [email protected] or 0429 064 496
This will be a gathering for a period of contemplation and silent prayer on the impact of climate change on our planet, the biosphere and all humanity. A prayer circle would be formed around a prayer space created by large mat spread on the ground with words inscribed "Stop Adani". The service would comprise a Welcome to Country (Aboriginal elder), an Introduction and Invitation to Prayer (Rev. Rob Buchan, Uniting Church) and conclude with a prayer(s) to be said together and common to the faiths represented.
Symbols: Faith leaders are asked to wear vestments; religious or cultural dress to be worn as appropriate. There will be hand held leaflets with Stop Adani logo on one side (to wave) and prayer on the reverse side for the concluding prayer; wind toys/spinners symbolising the potential of wind power and other renewable energy.
