Multi-Faith Gathering for Climate Action

Multi-Faith Gathering for ClimateAction presented by

Queensland’s Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (QARRCC)

A newly formed multi-faith, member-based climate action group is presenting its first public event in Brisbane on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 12 noon at Speakers’ Corner, outside Parliament House Gates, 15 George Street, City.

The theme for the Gathering is ‘Energy Innovation....NOT Earth Desecration’

The theme acknowledges the tremendous potential our state has to be a clean energy powerhouse but also the dire need to move away from fossil fuel industries, especially the proposed Adani Mine, in order to protect our precious and beautiful Queensland natural environment as well as the planet.

QARRCC is committed to action for climate change. Taking their cue from parent organisation ARRCC (Australian Religious Response to Climate Change), members consider that global warming is not only a scientific, environmental, economic and political issue – it is also a profoundly moral and spiritual one.

The Earth’s ecosystems are intrinsically precious and deserve protection; the wellbeing of human beings is dependent on ecological flourishing; and it is the vulnerable people and species of the world who are most impacted by climate change

The focus of the Gathering will be prayers/reflections offered by representatives of different faiths together with music, banners, placards to explain our message to the public, and to invite others to join our action.

QARRCC welcomes people of any faith or belief background to join us in this peaceful gathering and to become involved in our future actions.
