School Strike, Brisbane
Our world is in crisis. Extreme weather caused by the climate emergency is wreaking havoc in our communities and ecosystems across the globe, causing social insecurity and harm to people.
The biggest cause of this crisis is fossil fuels - coal, oil and gas.
And while the Queensland Government’s plan for net zero emissions by 2050 looks good on paper, they continue to approve new coal and gas mines that will turbocharge the climate crisis and threaten all of our futures.
That’s why on Friday September 15, School Strikers from across Meanjin will be walking out of school to say: 'Our Future Can’t Wait, 2050 is too late!’
Look out for the ARRCC banner and rally with like-minded people of faith.
This Strike is part of a globally co-ordinated mobilisation for climate justice. As world leaders discuss climate action at the United Nations in New York, people on every continent will be taking to the streets to demand an end to fossil fuels.
We need all hands on deck to win this fight. School students of all ages and their supporters are welcome to join us!
Our Demands:
1. No New coal and gas
2. 100% renewable energy and exports by 2030
3. Fund a just transition & job creation for fossil-fuel industry workers and communities
