Report: What Queensland Wants

Regional Perspectives on Building a Stronger Economy

By Dr Amanda Cahill

Regional Queenslanders want to help power the nation’s recovery from the coronavirus catastrophe with new approaches to key industries such as energy, tourism, and agriculture.

What Queensland Wants, a new report by The Next Economy, follows a year-long consultation process asking people in Northern, Central, and Southern Queensland what they wanted for their communities’ future. It may surprise readers to hear about the high level of support, among the 450 regional Queenslanders consulted, for a government-supported, orderly transition to more diversified economies for mining communities.
